Launching of boats is allowed only from the provided launch site across from the Main Office building.

Boats are restricted from swimming areas.

Boats are available for rent from 11:00am - 6:00pm with the last boat into shore at 7:00pm.

Fishing Information

  • Members, 16 and older must have a valid Connecticut State fishing license.
  • Please be sure to stick to posted limits on daily catches. This is a rule that is difficult for us to enforce. There have been reports of certain fishermen taking more than their limit. Anyone caught doing this will have his or her fishing privileges and membership revoked. Keep in mind fishing is for all members. Over fishing only hurts all fishermen in the end. Please catch and release.
  • Please wash your boats prior to transport from one lake to another to help prevent the spread of unwanted weeds and organisms.
  • All boaters operating an electric engine must be registered with the State of CT and have a valid Safe Boaters Certificate.
  • All boaters must wear lifejackets or have PFD’s on board.
  • No gas engine or inflatable boats.
  • Trout catch limit is 3 per day. This limit includes fish caught by your guests.
  • No bass under 13” or over 17” should be taken from the lake. There is a three bass limit per day.
  • All Winding Trails fishermen shall contact the main office to get an ID card to carry for identification. Both WT staff and fellow members will do periodic spot checks to verify membership identification.
  • Night fishing will be permitted as long as cars are kept outside the gate and boats have all the required safety equipment.
  • Fishermen interested in entering the park prior to set designated hours should call our main office and leave their name so we can determine the demand for early morning fishing and develop a system for entry into the park.
  • Use of fresh water muscles for bait from Winding Trails property strictly forbidden.

If you have further questions or concerns regarding the fishing program please call Scott Brown, Executive Director at (860) 677-8458.
