Trails Fund - Together We Can Do Better

Winding Trails is a non-profit 501(c3) organization because we are dedicated to enriching children’s lives through summer camp and program activities. This beautiful property was bought and paid for through donations with that purpose in mind. Winding Trails needs assistance again to continue this honorable tradition. The Trails Fund is dedicated to three needs this year; Camperships, that provide needy children the opportunity to attend summer camp, Experiential Education that will build hands-on opportunities and programs in ecology for school groups and families, and Environmental Preservation to ensure a pristine environment that our children’s children will enjoy. Please give generously. Thank You. If you would like to donate and have not received our brochure, please call the office.

Donations

As part of Winding Trail’s effort to provide quality educational and recreational programs, we will occasionally ask for items that you may be getting rid of. Please drop off gently used and serviceable items to the main office. Thank you!
We are looking for:
Water boots (all sizes)
Rain jackets or Ponchos (all sizes)
Nets (water and butterfly)
Ice skates

Helping Hands - Many hands mean light work

Get out your families work gloves and lend a hand. Winding Trails will be holding its second annual beautification day on May 5, 2007. Last year our members and volunteers were able to save Winding Trails approximately two weeks worth of maintenance work. Winding Trails is our park and we should all lend a helping hand to keep her beautiful. Please mark the day on your calendar and join your community in a short day of giving back. Please call to register.

Date: May 5th
Time: 9:00am - 1:00pm
Where: Roosen’s Roost

Self Guided Nature Trail Is Open

Outdoor enthusiasts will be happy to hear that we have a self-guided nature trail marked and ready for your enjoyment. The trail is approximately 1.5 miles in length and has 45 points of interest. Along the trail you will find numbered plates that correspond to a brochure that will identify what you are viewing. You will begin your journey on this trail at the parking lot on the right just before the stop sign. Brochures can be picked up at the gatehouse, in the main office or outside the Lodge. Simply follow the yellow blaze marks on the trails and enjoy the great outdoors.

Another day at school

The Tech. Ed. construction class at Farmington High School helped Winding Trails by building two sheds this past fall. The 3 classes that participated are made up of 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who learn about residential construction, finish carpentry, cabinetmaking, as well as how to cut and install interior trim. In addition, members of the class build the sets for the plays and musicals at FHS and take part in 4 separate Habitat For Humanity house construction projects in Hartford each year. Winding Trails would like to thank all these students and their teacher Rick Mulcunary for doing an outstanding job.
