DEAR MEMBERS

Dear Members,

In this challenging business of providing educational and recreational opportunities for children and families, it always seems we are looking three to six months ahead in terms of planning and organizing. We have just celebrated the 4th of July and we needed to have this newsletter at the graphic designer in a few weeks so it can be printed and distributed in mid-August. It is great to reflect upon the previous season while planning so far ahead.

Early indications are that many of you are taking full advantage of this wonderful facility. The beach was busy many days this summer and the special programs saw record numbers in attendance. This is a mixed blessing. It is great to see programs full, but it will mean you will need to plan ahead and make sure that you register in advance.

The support for the second year of our Trails Fund is heartwarming. It is so pleasing to see many of you supporting our move to enhance educational activities for our children and to improve and preserve our natural environment. This summer we were able to provide over 60 children with the opportunity to attend camp. This would not have been possible without the support of individuals, civic groups, and local businesses. Look for a list of these supporters on page 9 of the newsletter.

The summer is certainly our busiest season, but do not miss out on all that the fall has to offer. In addition to the cooler days and the beauty of the leaves changing, we have many opportunities for you and the family to enjoy. A new program being offered this fall is Nature’s Open House. This program is a collaboration between many local PTO and Winding Trails. The event is a unique and educational experience that combines nature, literacy, and family. It will be an event that will be talked about for months to come.

Please take the time to read through the entire newsletter. Winding Trails continues to impact individuals and families through out the year. This special place provides countless memories for the family scrapbook. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. The Board of Directors, our staff, and I are here to help you.

Sincerely,
Scott Brown
